Lesson 2 - File Management and Computer Organization
File Management - Why is it important?
As you’re reading this, are you looking at your desktop which is covered by folders, files, and images? Did you know that this can take up processing speed? Do you have a system in place to organize your client and Chief Architect folders so you can work efficiently and not worry about losing your work? If not, don’t worry, this is what we’ll be discussing today.
Chief Architect Data Folders
Where are they generally located?
What are they?
Why you should NEVER use your DATA folder as your client project folder.
Folder/File Path Links
Backing Up and Organizing Your Folders
Formatting Company Standards on Your Computer
Hard Drive vs. Cloud-Based Storage
What to remember when organizing your folders:
Have a MASTER Company Folder that NEVER moves.
Put together a numbering system that helps with organization
Use a Cloud Based File Management option when possible
To minimize path issues, have all company user accounts labeled the same.
Create a single FOLDER where ALL Texture files are kept, that is also desktop accessible to the rest of your design team/computers
