Join us as we embark on an exciting journey with a captivating example project called "History Remodeled." As designers, we understand the importance of hands-on learning, and this project offers a unique opportunity to witness the transformation of the General William Floyd House, also known as the "Old Mastic House," located in Mastic Beach, New York.
Drawing inspiration from the detailed Historic American Building Survey (HABS) of this historic manor, we'll delve into the world of Chief Architect for Interior Designers. The HABS survey provides intricate interior millwork, floor plans, elevations, and sections, allowing us to reconstruct the structure within the Chief Architect software. Welcome! I'm Kelly Fridline, and I'm excited to have you here as you explore and expand your knowledge of Chief Architect. If you're feeling a bit nervous, overwhelmed, or frustrated, don't worry—I assure you that you've come to the right place. With my background as an architecturally trained designer, holding a Master of Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and more than a decade of professional experience (including almost 8 years specifically with Chief Architect), I have developed a course tailored specifically to the Interior Design industry.
Since 2018, I have dedicated over 450 hours to providing one-on-one and group training for Interior Designers learning Chief Architect and/or Home Designer software. As a testament to the success of these courses, over 150 Interior Designers have enrolled and successfully acquired knowledge from each lesson. The feedback and results have been exceptional.
Throughout my career, I have honed the most effective techniques, tips, shortcuts, and processes that are perfectly suited for our industry. Furthermore, my direct involvement in the industry on a daily basis ensures that you receive thorough explanations of the "how" and "why" behind each edit we make. This sets my training apart from other offerings, where designers may have received courses or tutoring without a comprehensive understanding of the software.
In addition to my training expertise, I have worked as a Virtual Design Assistant, Rendering Artist, and Architectural Design Consultant for Interior Designers, Architects, and homeowners. My portfolio includes successfully modeling, rendering, and creating permit plans for projects ranging from small powder rooms to multi-million-dollar custom homes. Collaborating with over forty designers on design projects (excluding training) has deepened my understanding of the level of detail necessary for efficient and seamless software learning.
